*Pelajaran pendidikan agama lebih baik dihapuskan dari kurikulum sekolah dasar sampai sekolah lanjutan atas./ Absurd. Mereka yang secara kultural dibesarkan di lingkungan yang kebetulan menganut kepercayaan yang dianut masyarakat dominan mendapat privilese untuk bisa menganyom satu subjek pendidikan sesuai kepercayaannya itu. Agama atau kepercayaan yang notabene pilihan personal yang tak bisa dipaksakan kepada siapapun, bisa menjadi alat pelestarian kekuasaan. Salah satunya dengan memasukkan pelajaran agama di jadwal pelajarannya. Tapi bagaimana nasib mereka yang punya keyakinan berbeda? Apa mereka harus di keluarkan dari ruang kelas hanya karena mereka Katolik, Kristen atau Budha? Dan ketika ujian dilaksanakan, mereka sendiri yang harus mempersiapkan segala sesuatunya,dari mulai soal ujian sampai pemeriksaan nilai akhir, padahal sekolah lah yang idealnya menjadi fasilitator proses belajar mengajar dan aktivitas evaluasi. Saya sudah muak dengan hal ini s****jak SD kelas 1, dimana temen2 saya yang punya keyakinan berbeda harus dikeluarkan dari kelas ketika pelajaran agama berlangsung...dan bahkan lebih sadis lagi, sempat ada guru agama yang memaksa temen2 saya yg berbeda religi itu untuk mengikuti pelajaran agama yang tidak mereka percaya,i...how sick is that???
***Indonesian education system obligates schools, from primary to high school even university, to incorporate Religion Education in their curriculum. This is problematic. Not also because conducting Religion course in schools is futile, but also it breeds discrimination and prejudice. Those who are not Muslims or believing in 4 other major religions: Christianity, Catholicism, Budhism and Hinduism are often neglected and discriminated against. I went to a public school since primary to high school, and unfortunately I had to attend every Religion education classes...but what devastates me the most was to see my beloved friends who are not Muslims had to struggle for themselves, be it to acquire teacher according to his/her own belief, or to get grades in order to step up to the next level. I don't subscribe to organize religion, yet I do think people who have different beliefs than the majority of a population should be provided the same access to education, if you wanna call it an education. Our guitarist, Vincensius, was undergoing the same unjust treatment when he was attending primary school and all the way to high school. Therefore, we think that Religion classes in schools should be eliminated!!! There are a lot more useful subjects to be taught in classrooms we think. An environmental consciousness or animal rights classes and or classes that teach students to be self-sustaining individuals who practice DIY ethic in their lives, how to write your own zine and build a bookshelf without have to spend money on Ikea products for instance, is more worth conducting than discussing the basic plot of major Ibranic religions: the plague, the flood, the ten commandments and so forth. Sigh!
