This is my farewell
When we were younger lovers it was easier to bear
I a man of open sea and her of open air
Open sails and killer whales an ocean life for me
But soaring wings and weightless things were for my wife to be
Opposites attracted us like magnets to the pole but
People are much different than my handy compass rose
Time was unforgiving and our love fell in disrepair
I prepared for war as she tied ribbons in her hair
Ribbons of war - and battle in her hair
She was in her aeroplane and I was in my boat
When she lost control the explosion killed us both
As our ships went down in flames our ashes stayed afloat
In life we were not meant to be in death we are so close
In death we finally mix as we sink in the abyss
Swinging on that swingset and walking hand in hand
If only we had found a love and kept it on dry land
Looking down on city lights and up at starry nights
