Childhood and adolescence were terrible ideas, but we survived them. Now let's see if we can do better with a child of our own." STEEP YOURSELF IN YOURSELF. THERE IS NO NEED FOR SOMEONE ELSE. "Let's fill it with our beliefs and values and foist it upon a world where the sun is getting whiter every day, where poverty is soaring and cancer and homelessness and cancer and AIDS and cancer and pollution and yes, we will see the apocalypse in our lifetime, we just want to share it with a child of our own." Don't talk to me about natural instinct. You've spat on nature for far too long. It's time we made our apologies to the poor old planet, and whiped the slate clean. Steep yourself in yourself. Your own life is enough. There is no need for any more. We're worth so much more than just middle people between the past lot and the next lot. And maybe in time they'll see us as the ones who didn't miss the point. And even though with time we may find ourselves uncontrollably slipping into the habits and mannerisms of our parents, we'll never quite be the baby-machines they wanted us to be. While those around us chose to settle down and die we went on and played and wrote and fought and didn't notice anything as meaningless as age because we were beyond all that now. We had outgrown age.
