El Mesías
El compositor alemán Georg Friedrich Händel (Halle 1685 - Londres 1759) fue uno de los muchos músicos que hicieron de Inglaterra su país de adopción. Al comienzo fue apreciado por sus óperas italianas, pero su popularidad alcanzó límites sin precedentes cuando comenzó a componer grandes obras sacras.
En el verano de 1741 compuso el maravilloso oratorio que es El Mesías estrenado en Dublín el 13 de abril de 1742. La obra alcanzó un éxito inmediato aupando a su autor a la cima de los compositores de música sacra.
Händel realizó a lo largo de su vida muchas versiones del Mesías tanto en lo referente al aspecto vocal como instrumental. La versión que a lo largo de estos 200 años se ha venido ejecutando tradicionalmente, parece ser que está basada en una audición ofrecida por Mozart en 1789, en Viena.

El compositor alemán Georg Friedrich Händel (Halle 1685 - Londres 1759) fue uno de los muchos músicos que hicieron de Inglaterra su país de adopción. Al comienzo fue apreciado por sus óperas italianas, pero su popularidad alcanzó límites sin precedentes cuando comenzó a componer grandes obras sacras.
En el verano de 1741 compuso el maravilloso oratorio que es El Mesías estrenado en Dublín el 13 de abril de 1742. La obra alcanzó un éxito inmediato aupando a su autor a la cima de los compositores de música sacra.
Händel realizó a lo largo de su vida muchas versiones del Mesías tanto en lo referente al aspecto vocal como instrumental. La versión que a lo largo de estos 200 años se ha venido ejecutando tradicionalmente, parece ser que está basada en una audición ofrecida por Mozart en 1789, en Viena.

¿Si Dios está con nosotros,
quién se nos opondrá?

¿Quién puede acusar a los elegidos
de Dios? Dios es el que perdona.
¿A quién tocará condenarlos? Es
Cristo que murió, o mejor dicho,
que resucitó y está a la derecha de
Dios, quien intercede por nosotros.

El Cordero que fue sacrificado y
nos redimió ante Dios con su sangre;
digno es de recibir poder, riqueza,
sabiduría, fuerza, honor, gloria y
alabanza. Al que se sienta en el trono
y al Cordero, la alabanza, el honor, la
gloria y el poder por los siglos de los
siglos.
